Astrid continues to grow and get more mature. She is talking a lot more and expanding on her vocabulary. She is using words in 3-4 word sentences. She is coming along and I'm not worried about her language anymore. I just measured and weighed her today and here are her stats: 23 lbs, 32.5" tall, and head circumference 18"; size 18 month clothes and size 5 foot. She is growing slowly but she's growing. She just started swimming lessons and seems to like it. She is doing well at kicking her legs, going under the water and blowing bubbles. She isn't afraid at all. She does get cold which makes her mad, but I think that she is having a good time. We are planning on putting her in preschool in 3-4 months. We are thinking about the Waldorf School, but we're not sure because they don't have a full day program for preschool. The prerequisites that Eric and I have for school is reputation, being non-secular, and liberal, focusing on creativity and fun, with a lot of nurturing. Astrid's latest accomplishments are making tall buildings with blocks, helping with chores around the house (feeding the dogs, putting clothes in the dryer, picking up her toys); stacking and lining up things with amazing precision; drawing with more control; mimicking what others are doing with emotions and words and sounds; playing independently for more than 1 hour; pretend play and imaginary play (she is very creative and inventive); she is very inquisitive and asks a lot of questions (points a lot); she knows her colors and can point out letters and numbers. She is still having temper tantrums, but it seems to have subsided a bit. I think that she is learning that we aren't going to put up with it, and we ignore bad behavior, so she isn't freaking out as much. She is VERY loud and talks at the top of her lungs. I always have to tell her to 'be soft'. She understands and brings her voice down few notches, but she is extremely loud. She loves music (especially rock classics) and can really dance well. She jumps and spins and waves her hands and sings with the music. Her favorite movie is ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Her appetite is pretty good these days. She is probably the best fed kid around. She doesn’t eat a lot of crappy food and she doesn’t really have a sweet tooth. She prefers spicy instead of sweet. Her energy level is high and she is very active. She is doing really great. I can’t believe that she’ll be 3 years old in three months. It’s amazing!! This year for Halloween she’s going to be a Zebra. She already tried on her costume and she loves it. She looks very cute (and she knows it).
