Astrid is doing fine, however she has had this rash on her body for 3 weeks now. It is a red, bumpy itchy rash that doesn’t seem to go away. I took her to the doctors on Friday and the doctor was uncertain what it was. At first glance she thought it was chicken pox because it was all over her trunk, and it seemed to be spreading; then she thought that it might be excema, and then the doctor said that she wasn’t sure, may be a contact allergy. I have to bring her back in a week to see how she is doing. In the meantime, I have to apply hydrocortisone lotion, bathe her with non-fragrant soap and apply lotion to her skin twice a day. The rash seems to have gotten better, but it is ugly and looks extremely uncomfortable. The doctor said that it was slightly infected, so I have to keep her fingernails cut extremely short, and wash her hands a lot during the day. If the infection persist, I have to give her anti-biotic. She is supposed to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants because she has a tendency to scratch herself. Because of her tendency to scratch she has scratched a cut onto her nose and will not leave it alone. She has scratched at it so much that it has not healed. I hope that it doesn’t scar. On a happy cheery note, Sue & Paul, Astrid & Eric and I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium today. We all had a fabulous time. She was a little uncomfortable around the fish when it was up close, but from afar she loved looking at the sea creatures. Everything was ‘Nemo’. We had an excellent time and she napped like a queen when we got home and went to bed tonight tired and settled. She got a new toy from the gift shop … her very own plush Nemo. She loves it!
