I promise to have more pictures posted on the website this weekend. Astrid is going to the NICU reunion this Saturday so we’ll have some fun pictures to take. Astrid is doing quite a bit lately and talking more. She is very serious about what she wants and doesn’t want. She can definitively say, ‘No’ and means it. When she wants something, she will say, ‘I need …’ or nod ‘yes’ or if that doesn’t work, she will take my hand and drag me over to what she wants and shout at me or points. The girl knows how to get what she wants. I put her on the scale the other day and she is over 20 pounds now. I put her cousin Jack and her next to each other and they are practically the same size … he is 13 lbs. & 24 inches tall and head circumference 17”; she is 20 lbs & 31 inches tall with 18” circumference. He’s only 3 months though. It’s a trip! Astrid is quite the connoisseur of fine foods. She loves her olives, artichokes (which she is a master at eating), grilled fish, blueberries, Asian pears, fine cheeses and salami, Odwalla Pom-Lime juice, flavored water, filet mignon, and soy nuts. She will tolerate the other ‘kiddy’ foods like noodles, canned meat, canned fruit cocktail and ‘O’s … but she is definitely into fine foods. Astrid is a very jovial and happy kid. She is very active and just really fun to hang out with. We have some good times. She can be very dramatic and emotional, and plays on both my and Eric’s emotions. When Eric is scolding her, she always looks at me for approval. I always give her a little sad face when he disciplines her and it is difficult for me to not side with her. She knows it too. It’s something I’m working on … as Eric will say, ‘don’t under mind me’. She’s my girl, though! I can’t help it. She continues to get smarter and smarter every day. She is very independent and can play for hours by herself. She’s the one that comes and looks for me to see if I’m still around. Of course I am, and I peek in on her all the time. I enjoy watching her play. She is a good girl and knows her limits. I don’t ever worry that she’s playing in the ‘no no’ cupboards and sipping chemicals. She knows what’s right and wrong.
