Hi Sara, I'm glad to hear Astrid's doing so well!!! Potty training is a slow process according to those we've spoken with. We've been able to get a little bit of success (3 #1's, and & 1 #2) by getting Stacy to stay on the pot a bit longer than she would initally. To that end, we wait until we suspect she's ready to "do it" and then let her work a puzzle or play with a toy or "read" a book while she's sitting there. It keeps her occupied rather than making a big deal out of having to sit there. Then, when she's done something, we give her high praise. Otherwise, is says she's done but hasn't done something, we ask her to sit there a bit longer and, if still nothing, we "let" her get up (as if we could stop her...). I think she's starting to understand what she's supposed to do. The other day, she told mom "poo poo" but when mom checked her diaper, there wasn't anything (sometimes, she'd tell us she'd done something and it was time for a change). 10 minutes later the diaper was full. Hmmm. Guess she was saying she had to go rather than she had already done so. Other parents have told us that they've waited until their kids are a bit older (2 1/2-3) and offer them praise and rewards (M&Ms, etc.) when they have a success. It's my understanding that it's a bit of a challenge for all parents and that each parent approaches it in their own way and, sometimes, in a different way with each of their kids. We're also told that we should be prepared for setbacks. Ugh! I can't wait until this stage of stinky diapers is over with! Good luck!
