Astrid got another black eye. I don't know how she got this one. I was sitting at the kitchen counter and all of a sudden she started crying. I looked down and I saw immediately that under her eye was turning black. I feel so irresponsible when stuff like this happens. I know that it happens, but this happened right under my eyes. She's a tough girl though ... she didn't cry long. Astrid has turned into quite the flirt. When I take her out to go shopping or where there are people around, she waves at everyone. She looks at everyone, and says 'Hiiiii'. She is quite the charmer. I entered Astrid in a Baby Gap contest. The winning kid will get $5000.00 college fund and lifetime of Gap clothes. Next week they pick the winner. I had my first taste of what motherhood is like with a child having a temper tantrum in a public place. Oh my gawd ... it was the most embarrassing experience. We were in Macy's and she just would not behave. I took her out of her stroller because she was rocking back and forth so hard that she was getting seat belt burn from the motion. Bad Decision! She kept wandering off, so I had to keep running to get her. When I did catch her, she threw this awful fit. I tried to pick her up to put her back in the stroller and her body went limp so that I couldn't grab her underneath her armpits. She started screaming at the top of her lungs, wiggling and kicking around; she was pounding her head back & forth on my chest. I didn't know what to do. I struggled to get her back in her stroller and when I did she kept screaming. I was in line, so I really couldn't do much. I had to make a purchase. People were looking at me like I had the most spoiled child. I was so embarrassed. All that I did was ignore the situation; I got in a zone where nothing around me mattered. I did my business and we cut our shopping experience short. We left immediately. She is babbling a lot more these days. She is saying words but not clearly. 'egg', 'Raggedy Ann', 'piggy', 'blankie', 'Dharma', 'Hiiiiii', 'movie' ... but mostly she is just singing up a storm. She loves to sing.
